Coachella 2005 information was just announced today. The lineup hasn't been announced yet, but there is plenty of speculation as to who will be playing.

According to NME.com, possible acts could include The Futureheads, Snow Patrol, Keane, Bloc Party, Secret Machines, Hot Hot Heat, Phoenix, The Bravery and Radio 4, Franz Ferdinand, and Coldplay.

Productshop NYC has some speculation of it's own, adding rumors about Garbage, Bjork, Prince, Jay-Z appearing with Lincoln Park. The most interesting rumor is that The Smiths might be making an appearance this year!

Get your hotel rooms now folks. They will all be gone soon!

Coachella Music Festival was a Blast

Haven't posted in more than a week, partly due to a friend being in town and spending a good amount of time at the beach and at the Coachella Music Festival. If you ever get the opportunity to attend, I very highly recommend Coachella. It's totally restored my faith in the industry's ability to create good music and shun manufactured pop stars.

Located near Palm Springs CA in the high desert, both days were packed with people (50,000 - 60,000 according to an MTV.com writeup), hot as a mofo, and totally worth it!

There were 5 stages with so much good music that I found myself wandering from one stage to the next attempting to catch a taste of all the acts I wanted to see. The complete setlist is on the Coachella site, of which I was able to see only a small percentage including DJ Peretz (Perry Ferrell), Death Cab for Cutie, Heiroglyphics, Pixies, Radiohead, Sage Francis, Dizzee Rascal, 2 many DJ's, Crystal Method, Atmosphere, Basement Jaxx, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, and Danger Mouse.

Unfortunately, I missed a few acts I would have liked to have seen including The Cure and Beck. I also had the unfortunate experience of having my eardrums pummeled by angry political spoken word from Saul Williams.

If you have the chance, don't miss Coachella in 2005!

Between the Dim & The Dark

Between the Dim & The Dark I just found out that one of my favorite bands, Jump Little Children, released a new Album today! If you've not given them a listen, you're should. If you ever have a chance to see them live, definitely go see them. Their show at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta's Little Five Points last year was one of the best shows I have ever been to. Unfortunately, I will miss the April 24 show this Saturday in that same location.

From the looks of it, their release is going fairly well. The album currently has a sales rank of 116 on Amazon and 55 on the iTunes Music Store.

Think you've never heard of Jump Little Children? From the band biography on their website:

...you might have looked for this webpage because you heard the song "Cathedrals" in your local IKEA. Or you may have seen us on tour with your favorite band Guster, or 7Mary3, or Rusted Root, or the Marvelous 3, or even Hootie. We're glad to have you here. We're a band that's been together for more than six years now, a band that calls Charleston, SC, it's home. You'll find us playing at festivals and rock clubs and hear us on radio stations. We dream of being your favorite rock and roll band but we know that it might take a little while. We're still learning. We still have lots to learn.
